Now how is that for motivation?
I've talked with many people who for one reason or another were advised by their doctor to start getting physical exercise each day in the form of walking. Sounds simple doesn't it? I've also heard one excuse after another from the same people as to why they're not following their doctor's orders. Time and time again I hear "I'm just too tired," or "I don't have time" or "it's too hot/cold outside." The question is, are these valid excuses, or a lack of motivation?
Now let's pose a little scenario...Say these people were told that each and every time they walked completely around the block of their neighborhood, and upon reaching their starting point, they would receive $200.00 cash for every day they completed the walk? If this were the case, how many people would find the energy, find the time, and depending upon the weather, pick up a water bottle or jacket and take that walk?
This one really made me think about my own excuses for not exercising.
ReplyDeleteSame here! Looks like I'm running out of excuses lol
ReplyDeleteI just recently had Major Surgery and Before the surgery I had a hard time walking a ways, but now that my 6 weeks is almost up I want to get back to taking the dogs for those long walks and getting myself back into shape. Now that I have been " not able" to do anything for 6 weeks it made me look back at the past and Say, WOW, I thought I was lazy now, boy was I lazier then. And BTW I would do it for free if it ment me Living a Healthy longer Life!
ReplyDeleteElyssa,
ReplyDeleteYes, funny how everything is always clearer in retrospect. At the times when we think we're giving it our all, later on, it's easy to look back on those times and see how we could have done so much more. I wish you a speedy recovery, and I'm sure your dogs will be happy when you can once again take those long walks!

Hi Elyssa I had surgery last year and I'm just now able to start working on getting back into shape, so I know what you mean. I hope you get well soon!
ReplyDeleteCole - I know you're right but the $200 sure would help. lol
ReplyDeleteJust think how much you'll be saving in the long run on medical bills. That should do it!!
